Gatsby Galore at Gallery J

Some themes and venues just go hand in hand. That is the case with Gatsby and Gallery J! On their website, they describe their property as “a world of secrets hidden within an office warehouse complex and re-purposed art studio”, and “vintage Hollywood glamour with a speakeasy feel.” We couldn’t agree more!
The venue has several distinct spaces, both indoor and outdoor, and is perfect for both social celebrations and corporate functions. While Gallery J makes an iconic backdrop for the Roaring 1920s, it also is great for other themes such as Hollywood, Casino, Saloon, Christmas, and more! Gatsby Greeters & Atmosphere Performers
From the moment guests arrive (vintage car optional), guests are immersed in the 1920s. One way our entertainers bring the decade to life is through their lingo. While interacting with guests, our performers mix in popular terms from the 1920s. Such as: bee’s knees - the best, cat’s meow - stylish or cool, rag-a-muffin – disheveled, ritzy - elegant , doll or dame - a woman, dapper - neatly dressed, and of course moonshine/bootleg/hooch/giggle juice – alcohol (which was illegal due to Prohibition!) Our performers are always costumed according to their character.
For example, here is our Mobster. You’ll catch him sneaking around and scheming - trying to sell moonshine recipes or trying to convince guests to enter into unlawful gambling! (Mobster photos shown were not taken at Gallery J.)
Our Performers can simultaneously accomplish functional tasks. Need welcome drinks passed out? Or party favors passed around? They can do this, while always staying true to their character and the era. Check out our Specialty Trays here, these are especially suited for our Gatsby Flappers!
1920s Coppers
Want a delightful disruption? Our Coppers comedically “bust the scene”. They will playfully interrogate guests, and try to figure out where the Mobster is! Pro tip: Coppers are perfect at facilitating audience movement from one space to another. For example, you can designate your cocktail hour space as the “speakeasy.” Once the hour concludes, Coppers can bust the speakeasy and “kick” guests out AKA get guests to move into the next event location, such as the ballroom.
Flapper Dance Lesson
Your guests can embody the era through dance! Our Flapper will lead them through 1920s-style moves, such as the Charleston. This experience is for all guests of all dance levels! It doesn’t matter whether you’re a novice or a pro, it’s purely about having fun!
